Kentucky State Police are investigating the death of an elderly woman Saturday at the twin bridges between Henderson and Evansvilke. Just before 9am, Henderson County 911 Center started receiving calls from motorists reporting an elderly lady climbing over the railing of the northbound twin bridges in Henderson. Troopers arrived and located the body of an 85 year-old female in a grassy area below the bridge. KSP detectives say the elderly woman drove her car onto the northbound bridge, exited her vehicle leaving it in the right lane prior to climbing over the railing and falling roughly 50 feet to the ground. KSP and the Henderson County Coroner’s Office are investigating this as suicide. Authorities are in the process of locating and notifying next-of-kin. Northbound traffic was condensed to one lane which impacted traffic for almost two hours as detectives investigated the scene. The Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Henderson County Coroner’s Office, Henderson County Rescue, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department and Henderson County Ambulance Service. The investigation is on-going.
