A ceremonial bill signing Monday brought awareness to a change in the state’s child seat law. The ceremonial signing of House Bill 315, a bill that puts Kentucky in line with 31 other states booster seat laws, comes just ahead of the enactment of the bill. The bill requires children under eight years old and less than 57 inches tall to be in a booster seat, a move that advocates say reduces the risk of injury to a child in an accident by 60 percent. Starting June 24, law enforcement will issue $30 citations to violators or give them the opportunity to buy a booster seat instead of paying the fine.
