Daviess Fiscal Court approved a $40,000 grant Tuesday for the Owensboro Convention Center to fund 80 percent of the start-up costs for OwensboroTickets.com, a universal online ticketing site to serve all attractions and events in the area. The center had sought the entire $50,000 Fiscal Court had earmarked for arts projects. Daviess Judge Executive Al Mattingly says the money, which comes from excess taxes collected from hotel room rentals, is for “projects that break down the silos that separate arts organizations.” OCC GM Dean Dennis says he will sign the contract for Owensboro Tickets dot com today.
