The ACLU of Kentucky says it will consider legal action against any county clerks who refuse to issue marriage licenses. A handful of clerks have stopped issuing licenses to anyone in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage in all 50 states. The ACLU’s Bill Sharp says they will represent any couple, same sex or not, that was denied a marrge license in a half dozen counties. In a statement, Governor Beshear says he expects the clerks to “execute the duties of their offices as prescribed by law” regardless of their personal beliefs.
