Green River Area Development District is seeking at least 17 new AmeriCorps members to serve in Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union, and Webster counties starting September 1. GRADD has been awarded a $388,500 grant from the Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service to fund 30 full-time AmeriCorps Senior Connections and Disaster Services Corps program members. Thirteen of the current team plan to return for a second year. Senior Connections volunteers will be placed with local agencies such as senior citizen centers, adult daycare, and assisted living. Age range for volunteers is anywhere between 18 and 80, with a high school diploma and clean criminal record. Two informational meetings are planned. The first on July 15 at 1pm at The Gathering Place on North Elm in Henderson, and the other on July 16 at 1pm at the GRADD office in Owensboro off West 60.
