The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) has scheduled a public information meeting to discuss project alternatives for the improvement of the KY 298/Old Hartford Road and KY 3143/Fairview Drive/Foors Lane intersection in Owensboro.
The meeting will be held at College View Middle School at 5061 New Hartford Road in Owensboro from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., local time, on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.
According to KYTC District 2 Chief Engineer Kevin McClearn, there will be a formal presentation on the project objectives at 5:30 p.m. The public will then have an opportunity to review the project plan and make comments.
“We urge anyone with an interest in this project to join us on Tuesday night to review the displays and provide input,” McClearn said. “During the meeting, individuals will have the opportunity to discuss the project with KYTC engineers and design staff, as well as representatives of EA Partners, PLC, a firm assisting with design of the project.”
McClearn noted that both written and oral statements will be accepted at the meeting. A Court stenographer will be available for those who desire to make oral statements and comment sheets will be distributed to make it more convenient to provide written comments.
Comments also may be submitted in writing before July 24, 2015 to the KYTC District 2 Office, 1840 North Main Street, Madisonville, Kentucky 42431-5003.
For anyone who is unable to attend the Tuesday evening meeting, displays and other materials will be available at the KYTC District 2 Office in Madisonville during regular office hours until that date. Comments may also can be provided at the time of visit.
“We think the plan we’ll present will improve both safety and traffic flow at this intersection,” McClearn said. “We would appreciate a good turnout to review those plans and provide comments.”

More than 8,000 vehicles travel through this intersection in an average day. The intersection is located at KY 298 mile point 7.770 and KY 3143 mile point 0.926.
