At Tuesday night’s Owensboro City Commission meeting, first reading was held of an ordinance annexing 191 acres on KY 54 where the $335 million Gateway Commons private development will be built. According to the Messenger-Inquirer, the City Commission approved an ordinance that established a development area for the commercial-residential development last month. Mayor Ron Payne said the annexation will be the single largest annexation the city has ever done. It will be voted on at the next City Commission meeting.
