The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to CLOSE US 431 in southern McLean County on Wednesday, July 15, 2015. US 431 will be closed at mile point 4.660 to allow repairs to decking on a bridge that crosses an unnamed stream. This is the first bridge just south of the US 431 Green River/Rough River Bridge work zone at Livermore. The KYTC District 2 Bridge Crew has been working to repair a large pothole in the bridge deck with traffic restricted to one lane. In the course of their work, engineers determined that they would be unable to maintain traffic while placing concrete forms under the structure. US 431 will close at this site between Livermore and Island promptly at 8:00 a.m., CDT, on Wednesday. It is expected to reopen to one lane traffic around 3:00 p.m., Wednesday. There will be a marked detour via KY 85, KY 2110, and KY 138, which parallel US 431 along this section. Motorists are asked to use caution along the detour. Once concrete forms are constructed, traffic will be returned to one lane with alternating flow controlled by an automated signal. Engineers are optimistic that the repair work can be completed by the end of the week.
