An overnight arson and subsequent events have resulted in the arrest of a suspect in Evansville on numerous charges. According to media partner 14News, officials responded to a fire around 1:30 Thursday morning at the Sugar Creek apartments. Although there were no injuries, officials right away suspected arson. 25-year-old Caleb Loving has been charged with arson in the case. Then around 8:30am, Evansville police were called to a McDonald’s on Green River Road after a customer reported that a man, dressed in a bulletproof vest and fitting the description of Loving, had walked into the restaurant with a suspiccious bag. The restaurant was evacuated and that area of Green River Road was closed to traffic. After Loving was arrested at the scene, officials examined the bag and discovered a Molotov cocktail and a pipe bomb. Both devices were safely disposed of. At 11:30am, another bag was found, also reported by police to had been planted by Loving, near Evansville Day School. That bag was found not to be a threat.
