A Bullitt County man is facing charges after he used a shotgun to shoot down a drone. Police say 47-year-old William H. Merideth was arrested on July 26 on charges of wanton endangerment. He says a camera-equipped drone flown by remote control flew into his back yard and hovered, apparently taking pictures of his two daughters. Meredith got out his 12-guage and shot the drone down. Shooting a gun in the Hillview city limits is a crime. Meredith says he plans to defend his actions in court. Now the owner of the drone, David Boggs, is speaking out. He told Louisville TV station WDRB that the drone was at or over 200 feet in the air, and only crossed the line onto Merideth’s property for a few seconds. Boggs has provided flight data from the drone, saying it should prove he did not violate any laws.
