Daviess County Schools ended its fiscal year Friday with a general fund balance of $14.23 million and a rainy day fund of $11.4 million, about 10% of the annual budget of $114 million. Some of the savings came because of fuel-efficient buses and lower gas prices. Property tax revenues were also up last year. Matt Robbins, assistant superintendent of finance and operations, said DCPS ended its fiscal year “in a very safe financial position.”
