A morning accident on U.S. 60 caused a mess and closed the roadway for around two hours. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials first announced the accident around 7:42am, although dispatchers say it happened around 4am. A truck hauling scrap metal blew a tire and dumped hydraulic fluid and debris on the road, causing flat tires for several vehicles that attempted to drive through the accident scene. Officials ended up closing U.S. 60 from the KY 144 interchange extending eastward to KY 2830 at Hawesway Truck Stop while cleanup was done. KYTC announced the road was back open at 9:39am. There were no injuries.
