Impact 100 Owensboro, a group of local women who donate money and time to benefit various organizations, held their finalist announcement Thursday afternoon at Girls Inc. The group consists of women divided into five focus groups, who investigate applicants and determine where each year’s grant money goes. This year, a total of over $238,000 will be awarded. The finalists announced Thursday were the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, the H.L. Neblett Center, and the Wendell Foster Center. Impact 100 president Jean Yewell explains what happens now that the finalists have been chosen. Click below to listen.
The news conference was held at Girls Inc., one of the recipients last year of a $100,000 grant. Director Tish Correa-Osborne updated the gathering on how Girls Inc. is still using that money to at some point purchase new vans for the facility.
