The management firm appointed as receiver for Towne Square Mall is encouraging the public to continue to shop there, as they keep it open even as it’s about to go up at auction. According to the Messenger-Inquirer, a Daviess Circuit judge has sent the case to the Daviess Master Commissioner’s office for the purpose of selling the 37-year-old mall. The order was signed Thursday by Daviess Circuit Judge Jay Wethington, who then sent it to the Master Commissioner. The mall, which is owned by Lakestar Properties, is facing a lawsuit from U.S. Bank National Association for unpaid debt to the tune of over $27 million. An agreement July 29 gave Lakestar one last chance to pay the loan, but the deadline was missed.
