A Utica man was arrested after a single vehicle accident Tuesday night. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, crews arrived at the accident, which occurred around 9:30pm on Greenbriar Road in Utica. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2012 Ford pickup, driven by 31-year-old James Pierce. It had been eastbound when it left the roadway, striking a ditch and a tree, causing severe damage to the truck. Pierce was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, and was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for treatment, and then to the Daviess County Detention Center. His passenger, 27-year-old Adam Payne, was injured in the wreck and taken by ambulance to Owensboro Health where he was treated for several injuries. Pierce has been charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and second degree assault.
