A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans an additional ramp closure along the US 60/Wendell Ford Expressway work zone at Owensboro on Saturday, September 26. The westbound US 60 Exit 12 ramps to and from KY 2698/Carter Road will be closed for paving from 6:00 a.m., CDT, to approximately 10:00 a.m., Saturday morning. To prepare for this Saturday morning closure, a milling crew will be working along the ramps on Friday starting at approximately 9:00 a.m., CDT. During the milling on Friday the ramps will remain open with traffic flow controlled by flaggers. Some delays are likely during the movement and placement of equipment to facilitate the milling work on Friday. The US 60 Exit 12 westbound exit and entry ramps for KY 2698/Carter Road will then close to all traffic starting at 6:00 a.m., CDT, on Saturday, and remain closed for about 3 to 4 hours for paving. All westbound ramps to and from US 60 at US 431/Frederica Street Exit 14 and KY 81/West Parrish Avenue Exit 11 remain closed along this work zone. That means during the Saturday morning westbound ramp closure at KY 2698/ Carter Road, all westbound entry and exit ramps will be closed along the US 60/Wendell Ford Expressway work zone between the US 231 Interchange and the Audubon Parkway Interchange at Owensboro. This Saturday morning closure of westbound US 60 ramps at KY 2698/Carter Road Exit 12 Interchange is part of ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation work along U.S. 60/The Wendell Ford Expressway around Owensboro running from mile point 10.179 at the KY 331/Bon Harbor Hills Road intersection extending eastward to mile point 15.50 near the Horse Fork Creek Bridge, a distance of 5.32 miles. Yager Materials of Owensboro is the prime contractor on this $17.7 million highway improvement project. The U.S. 60 reconstruction and rehabilitation project at Owensboro is estimated to be about 70 percent complete. It has a target completion date of November 15, 2015.
