For the first time in over 70 years, the University of Kentucky will play a home football game on a Thursday. UK officials started planning for the October 15 game with Auburn over a year ago when the game was added to the schedule as part of the SEC’s television deal with ESPN. The game will be UK’s first Thursday night game since they met Tennessee on November 30, 1939. University officials say the campus will remain open on game day but there will be significant changes to the parking and traffic plans for the day. Lexington city leaders say the days will be a good test of their plans for October 31 when UK hosts Tennessee while the Breeders Cup takes place at nearby Keeneland.
