Less than a week after being elected the next governor of Kentucky, Matt Bevin is putting the state in the national spotlight. The governor-elect promises one of the first things he will do when he takes office on December 8 is remove the names of county clerks from marriage licenses. Bevin said he will issue an executive order to change the forms — adding he will also make the forms downloadable so that they can be filed like other legal documents such as mortgages or deeds. Whether Bevin can legally take the clerks’ names off the licenses is still in question.
