An Owensboro family had their wheelchair van stolen from them while in Virginia over the weekend. The Abell family was there celebrating their son’s graduation from the U.S. Army School of Music. The van, used to transport their disabled daughter, was stolen from their hotel parking lot while they were sleeping. Hotel employees helped as much as they could, but with no security cameras and no leads from police, they were forced to move on. A van with lift equipment like theirs is worth about $54,000, so buying a new one was out of the question. Luckily, a dealership offered to sell them a used one for less than what a rental van would cost to get them home.
