Kentucky State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened in Madisonville early Saturday. According to media partner 14News, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department deputies say they were trying to stop a speeding truck on I-69. A 15-year-old was apparently driving the truck. Troopers say the juvenile left the interstate at exit 116, lost control of the vehicle, and ran off the road and into a ditch. The deputy was trying to apprehend the driver when the teen allegedly turned the truck around and sped toward the deputy. That’s when the officer fired his handgun at the teen. The juvenile was taken to Baptist Hospital in Madisonville. Another juvenile, a passenger, was not injured. Criminal charges against both teens are pending.
