Matt Bevin is only the ninth Republican governor in Kentucky’s 223-year history, the second in over four decades. Jenean Hampton, his lieutenant governor running mate, becomes the first African-American to ever hold statewide elected office in Kentucky. Bevin isn’t throwing a fancy inaugural ball. Instead, after his public swearing-in ceremony in Frankfort at 3pm Central Tuesday, Bevin has planned a free-to-the-public event at the Kentucky History Center with performances by Ricky Skaggs and other Bluegrass and Country artists. The Owensboro Symphony Orchestra will take part in the celebration in Frankfort, performing during the grand march in the Capitol. Kentucky Wesleyan College Director of Choral Music Dr. Bradley Naylor will join the OSO during the event singing “My Old Kentucky Home.”
