The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced a few inductees so far for 2016. Included are Cheap Trick, NWA, Chicago, Deep Purple, and Steve Miller. More will be announced at a later date. A couple of my favorite groups – Cheap Trick and Chicago – are going in, and I couldn’t be happier. Matter of fact, it’s amazing Chicago wasn’t already in there. It always seemed that no matter what kind of mood I was in, there was a Chicago song to fit it. The earlier, horn driven classics, all the way to the 1980s sappy ballads. One of my earliest memories of listening to the radio in the car was an evening ride in the back seat, on Barron Drive between Tamarack and Carter, hearing “If You Leave Me Now” for the first time on WVJS. Music will bring a lot of memories back, and when I hear that song I can see the landscape the way it was then, feel the night air through the open car window, and even smell the corn field as we passed by. Check out these two from a couple groups headed to the Hall of Fame.
