A news release from Mayor Ron Payne is indicating that the Evansville IceMen are moving to Owensboro next season. Negotiations between the team and Evansville officials have broken down, and leaders there say they will look for another professional team. Mayor Payne says he wants to sell the Sportscenter to the IceMen for $1. Then the team would expand it from 5,000 seats to 7,200 seats. Other major changes would be made so the building could accommodate a hockey rink. While the city would give them around $270,000 to help with a new roof, the other renovations would cost $4- to $6 million. This move for the Icemen is still subject to approval by the ECHL.
