Talks between Alcoa and the United Steelsworkers union are at a standstill. According to media partner 14News, the two sides can’t come to terms on things like seniority rights, retirement options, and other details concerning the closure of the Warrick smelter which will affect 600 workers and their families. The smelter has been in operation since 1960, but plans to close the first quarter of this year. The union has called for a special meeting on Monday to go over those talks and explain what’s next for workers. Workers are asked to attend one of those meetings, they are at 6:16 a.m. 7:40 a.m. 1:15 p.m. 2:15 p.m. 3:15 p.m. 3:40 p.m. 6:16 p.m. and 7:17 pm.
