The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is warning of a scam involving a fake officer. According to a Facebook post by the department, several reports came in Monday about a man claiming to be a Lieutenant Miller, who would tell people there is an arrested warrant in their name, and they need to meet him in person with $2,000 to avoid going to jail. The sheriff’s office says they do not have a Lt. Miller on staff, and an arrest warrant can only be recalled by a judge. If you are approached by someone claiming to be Lt. Miller or asked to come up with cash to get rid of a warrant, call the sheriff’s office immediately.
