The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Friday morning on 24th Street. According to OPD, they responded at 9:40am to the 600 block of 24th, in reference to a welfare check. The initial caller advised that an adult male was sitting in the roadway. The investigation revealed that the male subject was the victim of a shooting that occurred in the 500 block of E. 24th Street just prior to him being observed in the roadway. The victim was transported by ambulance to the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Detectives and evidence collection officers are continuing the investigation to determine what led to this incident and who is responsible. Initial reports have officers searching for two unidentified black males who reportedly left the scene in a blue Honda passenger car.
