Kentucky Transportation Cabinet crews in District 2 have the following Snow & Ice Report:
Henderson, Christian, Caldwell, Daviess and Hancock County crews report snow with some accumulation. All other counties are reporting flurries with a few heavy snow squalls mixed in.
Christian County has had reports of some slide offs and has been salting ramps along the Pennyrile Parkway and Interstate 24 since about 5 p.m. There have been some reports of slick spots developing on bridges and over passes through Christian County. Trucks are out salting in those areas at this time.
The ambient air temperature is hanging around 29 degrees at most locations in District 2 with pavement temps running around 31 degrees. The wind has helped to drop pavement temps to allow snow to start accumulating on road surfaces in areas hit by some of the heavier snow squalls.
District 2 crews plan to be on the road until about 11 p.m., spot treating as required. The District 2 Snow & Ice Team will be evaluating conditions on a county by county basis to determine if personnel should continue salting through the night. Otherwise, crews will ramp up to full staffing at 4:00 a.m., CST, to treat roadways before the morning commute.
