Panhandling in Daviess County could soon be illegal. According to media partner 14News, officials are discussing an ordinance to ban those standing on street corners asking for money. It’s a move that has the support of the Homeless Council of the Ohio Valley, which says it’s much better to donate to a shelter than to an individual on the street. They encourage residents to let panhandlers know about the shelters available to them. Homeless Council members say they plan on placing signs around Owensboro and Daviess County telling people to donate to the homeless shelter and not give to panhandlers.
