Settle Memorial United Methodist Church will feature the Owensboro Symphony Chamber Orchestra on Sunday, March 20, at 4:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary, 201 E. 4th Street, Owensboro. Maestro Nick Palmer is conductor, and the concert will feature orchestral selections as well as a 200-voice choir comprised of eight choirs. Church choirs include: Settle Memorial United Methodist, First Baptist, Third Baptist, First Presbyterian, First Christian, and Trinity Episcopal, all of Owensboro, and First United Methodist of Henderson. Also joining will be the Madisonville Community Singers. Pianist Diane Earle will perform a Mozart Piano Concerto. Music selections include pieces by Bach, Mendelssohn, Mozart, and Dan Forrest. This is the first concert of 2016 in the church’s Good Samaritan Concert Series, now in its fifth year. The concerts benefit St. Benedict’s, Boulware Mission, the Help Office, and Settle Memorial’s Good Samaritan Fund. The concert series is designed to raise awareness and resources to impact homelessness in Owensboro. The 75-minute concert is free and open to the public; a freewill offering will be taken to help the above ministries. A new CD is also being released at the concert that features highlights of last year’s concert, available by donation.
