The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced lane restrictions on the State Road 237 Bob Cummings Lincoln Trail Bridge connecting Cannelton, Indiana and Hawesville, Kentucky. Beginning on Thursday, March 10, contractors will close the southbound lane of the bridge to perform work on the bridge approach on the Kentucky side. These are the beginning phases of a project in which workers will be performing maintenance, retrofitting and repairing fatigue-prone areas and addressing other needed high-priority repairs on the bridge. Work on the bridge approach is expected to last until the beginning of April. During that time, the restriction will be in place around the clock. INDOT anticipates the bridge will remain open to traffic for the duration of the project utilizing a single lane with signals strategically placed and actuated to accommodate traffic congestion issues on both sides.
