In a state where Donald Trump was still carrying the majority of the Republican vote, Daviess County’s results showed Ted Cruz as the top vote-getter locally in the Kentucky State Republican Caucus. According to the Republican Party of Kentucky web site, Ted Cruz received 36.89 percent of the vote, while Donald Trump was second with 25.27 percent. Marco Rubio was a close third with 22.27 percent. Although results started trickling in just after 6pm, Daviess County’s results were not displayed until well past 8:30. The Republican Caucus means that presidential candidates will not appear on the ballot in the May primary. Democratic candidates will appear on the May ballot for that party.
