A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans electrical work on a traffic signal along KY 54 at the US 60 Interchange in Owensboro on Tuesday & Wednesday, March 15 & 16. The contractor will be working on the signal at the end of the eastbound exit ramp from US 60 to KY 54/East Parrish Avenue. This signal also controls traffic for Heartland Crossing Boulevard at the entrance to Menard’s.On Tuesday, the electrical crew will be working in the turn lane, median area, and immediately along the ramps. While this phase of the work is not expected to severely disrupt traffic, motorists should use appropriate caution where bucket trucks and electricians will be working in close proximity to traffic flow. Then, on Wednesday, the contractor plans to deactivate the signal at the eastbound ramps to and from US 60 to KY 54 starting at approximately 9:00 a.m., and continuing until about 3:00 p.m., CDT, on Wednesday. This planned signal outage on Wednesday is to allow the contractor to replace a damaged signal support pole at the intersection. While the signal is out of service on Wednesday, flaggers will control all traffic flow through this busy intersection. Appropriate caution is required where equipment, flaggers, and electrical personnel are along the roadway in close proximity to traffic flow. Approximately 16,000 vehicles travel on KY 54/East Parrish Avenue through this intersection in an average day.
