A California company that trains pilots for Chinese airlines is opening a flight school in Owensboro. In a few months Apus Air will start construction on a $1.25 million “flight campus” at Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport. The company’s president says he plans to train 150 to 200 pilots a year in Owensboro. He also says the airport’s control tower was a key factor in selecting Owensboro, and airport board president Andrew Ward says Apus will help secure the tower’s future.
