A Virginia man was jailed Monday afternoon on reckless driving charges after traveling 44 miles per hour over the posted interstate speed limit. At 5:41 P.M. Trooper Ross Johnson was patrolling Interstate 69 north of the Washington exit, when he clocked a blue 2007 Mazda SUV traveling southbound at 114 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone. As Johnson turned around and attempted to pull over the Mazda, he radioed ahead to Trooper T.J. Henning, who was southbound on Interstate 69 just south of Johnson. Henning observed the Mazda still southbound, and at 85 miles per hour, passed Henning in his fully marked State Police patrol car. Johnson and Henning stopped the Mazda and spoke with the driver, 19 year old Gregory A. Kellman of Newport News, Virginia. Given the excessive speed and the volume of traffic on the roadway, Johnson placed Kellman into custody and charged him with Reckless Driving. Kellman was transported to and lodged in the Daviess County Security Center.
Arrested and Charges:
Gregory A. Kellman, Jr., 19
