Big Rivers Electric Corporation and the Daviess County Fiscal Court have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding for the Daviess County Fire Department to provide high angle rescue assistance to Big Rivers at their D. B. Wilson power plant. The D.B. Wilson Station is comprised of varying structures that reach several hundred feet in height, and employees must sometimes scale those structures for work. However, Big Rivers lacked the expertise and equipment needed for any potential high angle rescues and looked to the Daviess County Fire Department for assistance. The Daviess County Fire Department currently maintains personnel and equipment to perform these technically difficult rope rescues. The agreement will bind Daviess County and Big Rivers for one year, effective May 5, 2016. The Daviess County Fire Department will respond to Wilson Station based on availability during an emergency situation. Local calls will remain top priority, and the agreement will not jeopardize any fires or emergencies within Daviess County. To support this valuable service, Big Rivers will provide the Daviess County Fire Department with additional equipment and training as requested, per the agreement.
“We extend a special appreciation to County Judge Executive Al Mattingly, the Daviess County Commissioners and the Daviess County Fire Department for partnering with Big Rivers to benefit our employees and their emergency personnel,” said Bob Berry, president and CEO.
