A four hour standoff with a Daviess County man finally ended Saturday night when he was taken into custody. According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Department, 35-year-old Adam Carter had made suicidal statements to family members. Police were able to contact Carter by phone, but he would not reveal his location. After a period of time family members told deputies that Carter was back at his Petit Road home. Family members said Carter continued sending suicidal text messages, and even sent a video of him setting a fire in the house, Deputies verified that Carter was armed and barricaded alone n the home. After being unsuccessful at contacting the man, Kentucky State Police formed a perimeter around the home, and the OPD Emergency Response Team was alerted. Carter was eventually located hiding in thick brush behind the home. Carter was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
