Although Joe Perry and Steven Tyler have spoken openly about AEROSMITH launching a farewell tour, Perry says it’s not quite as close to happening as you might think.
Perry tells Guitar World magazine: “It’s one of many things we’ve talked about as a band, but I don’t know if it’s the end. We take it from album to tour and day to day. It’s the same philosophy we’ve always had. But even if that final tour comes about, it could go on for two years. There are still a lot of places we haven’t played yet that we want to play. More to follow; let’s just put it that way.”
While on hiatus, the members of AEROSMITH have been keeping busy with solo projects — Perry recently hit the road with his star-studded side project HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, featuring Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, former GUNS N’ ROSES drummer Matt Sorum, and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS bassist Robert DeLeo. AEROSMITH guitarist Brad Whitford joined forces once again with Derek St. Holmes for a spring and summer run.
