A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans the first of 3 extended closures along KY 1414 in Ohio County starting FRIDAY, July 15, 2016. KY 1414 will be closed for up to 9 days at the 7 mile marker starting at 6 p.m., CDT, on Friday, July 15th. This extended closure is to allow a large culvert that carries a tributary to Stovers Creek to be replaced. This is along KY 1414 between Mount Moriah Chruch Lane and Bunch Lane. This is the first of 3 extended closures along sections of KY 1414 to expedite the replacment of 3 large culverts that have been damaged by flash flooding in the last year. The contractor may start some prep work at this location earlier in the day, Friday, by maintaining one lane traffic with alternating flow controlled by flaggers. There will be no marked detour. Motorists should self-detour via county roads. Trucks should seek an alternate route via an approved state highway. Hinkle Environmental Services of Paris, KY, is the prime contractor on this $474,558 highway maintenance progect that also includes replacement of a culvert on KY 505 to be scheduled once the 3 culverts are replaced along KY 1414. The contractor faces significant penalties if these closures extend beyond the 9-day time limit specified in the contract.
