The former Evansville Icemen hockey team, who is moving to Owensboro after sitting out the 2016 season, won’t have a new city-built arena after all. According to media partner 14News, Owensboro officials estimated theĀ arena to cost between $20 million and $25 million. It would have been funded with Highway 54 TIF money. But after conducting a feasibility study, officials have called off those plans. The Icemen had already been told about the decision months ago, and are looking at alternatives, including the renovation of the Sportscenter.
