Whitesville voters have approved the sale of alcohol, but city officials are still ironing out the rules. People looking to buy alcohol on Sunday in Whitesville will have to head to the store on Saturday or wait until Monday. A special meeting of the city commission voted 3-2 against a proposal to allow Sunday sales. Also, the commission voted 4-1 to suspend alcohol sales on Election Day until after 6pm. Owensboro officials recently dropped that regulation. The Whitesville mayor and city commission will now have to decide how much they’ll charge businesses looking to sell alcohol. The commission will have first reading on its alcohol ordinance on August 4. Both Whitesville precincts will be officially wet on August 22.
