Owensboro has elected a familiar face to serve as mayor. The unofficial results from the Daviess County Clerk’s Office has revealed that former mayor Tom Watson has defeated his four other opponents. Jeff Sanford came in second, followed by Doug Hoyt, Neil Johnston, and David Crane. For Owensboro City Commission, the top four vote-getters were Bob Glenn, Pamela Smith-Wright, Larry Conder, and Jay Velotta. As far as Daviess County results go, Suzanne Miles defeated Joy Gray for State Representative 7th District, while the four precincts eligible to vote for 11th District rep favored Robby Mills over David Watkins. In the 12th, incumbent Jim Gooch easily beat Jim Townsend, but in the 13th district, Republican challenger D.J. Johnson narrowly defeated Jim Glenn. In the 14th, challenger Matt Castlen got a commanding victory over Tommy Thompson in Thompson’s home county. In the race for Family Court Judge, Julie Hawes Gordon got the win, with Clifton Boswell coming in second. The four Soil and Water District supervisors will be Aaron Walker, Edward Trunnell, Wally Taylor, and Ray Wright. In the Board of Education races, 3rd district went to Todd Anderson, while the three top choices for Owensboro School Board were Jeremy Edge, Melissa Decker, and Dan Griffith. In Whitesville, commissioners will be Patsy Mayfield, Joseph Beatty, Buddy Mattingly, and Bob Abell.
