An Owensboro man has been charged with manslaughter in connection to a Sunday evening shooting that left one man dead and another injured. According to the Owensboro Police Department, officers were called to the 600 block of Sycamore Street around 8:50pm, where an altercation between 36-year-old Jerard Fountain and 24-year-old Preston Williams ended in gunfire. Fountain was pronounced dead at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, while Williams was treated for an injury. Today, OPD announced that Preston T. Williams has been charged with Manslaughter 1st Degree in connection with the fatal shooting. Investigators determined that there was sufficient evidence to charge Williams, based on evidence at the scene, witness statements and surveillance video collected from the area of the shooting. The investigation is ongoing. Manslaughter 1st Degree is a class B felony.
