Two people, including the mother of the victim, have been charged after the body of a man was found in an Owensboro backyard. According to the Owensboro Police Department, the body of 30-year-old Jose Gomez, 30-years-old was found by officers in the 800 block of Breckenridge Street around 3:15 Saturday afternoon. A property owner found the body and called police. Officers say Gomez had been deceased for several days before being discovered. A missing person’s report was never filed. An autopsy report concluded Jose’s death was from blunt forced trauma after being struck with a piece of lumber. The victim’s mother. 52-year-old Yolanda Gomez, was arrested for Tampering with Physical Evidence, as well 46-year-old Salvador Avila-Navarrete, who was also charged with First Degree Manslaughter.
