The Kentucky Wesleyan College cross country teams swept the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week selections this week, with Rachel Keeley and George Marsch earning the honors as announced by the conference office Tuesday morning.
This is the first time that Marsch has earned the honor after a 17th place finish at the Austin Peay Invitational. The Hawesville, Ky. native ran a 19:53.8 at the Division I heavy meet.
Keeley brought home the G-MAC Athlete of the Week honor for the second time during her career. The senior placed seventh at Austin Peay with a time of 18:58.8. The time is good for Top 25 in the conference this season at the 5k distance.
The men finished fifth at the Invite this past weekend while the women finished sixth. Marsh and Keeley have been the top finishers for the Panthers at all three meets this season.
The Panthers return to action on Saturday, October 7th as they host the Fast Cats Classic at Yellow Creek Park in Owensboro. The women’s 5k will begin at 9:30 am CT and the men’s 8k will start at 10:10 am CT.
