Whitesville and West Louisville elementary schools are hosting special activities on Friday, Oct. 6, to celebrate our community’s agricultural heritage.
The Whitesville Elementary School “Community Agriculture Day” begins at 8 a.m. Friday for students in grades K-5. The theme is “Local Farmers Lead.” Farmers and agribusiness representatives from Daviess and Ohio counties will visit classrooms to share how they lead in their profession every day. “Our special guests will share their journey into this profession, what makes farming so important to the world, how they lead in their roles, what characteristics people have in this profession and advice for young students aspiring to work in a career within agriculture,” said WES principal Tricia Murphy.
The day will continue with Ag Safety Day activities at 9 a.m. for students in grades 3-5. Representatives from the University of Kentucky agriculture extension office will be have eight learning stations set up to teach students about safety in a variety of areas.
