The National Junior Honor Society at Daviess County Middle School is sponsoring a “Pink Week” from Oct. 23-27 in recognition of October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
NJHS students teamed up with the Owensboro Police Department to sell specially designed pink shirts to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
OPD Lt. David Powell will bring the special “Pink Out” police cruiser to the school from 7:30 to 8 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, as part of a special ceremony in which DCMS students will present a representative from the American Cancer Society with a check for $1,560. The proceeds from the shirt sales will be used to fund cancer research.
Students and staff are encouraged to wear pink as the DCMS Panthers stand up for breast cancer awareness.
