A water main break near 4th Street has resulted in a boil advisory and the early closing of Owensboro Public Schools. As of 11:30am, transportation was being arranged and car riders were being allowed to leave. Daviess County Public Schools are also dismissing early today. Elementary schools are dismissing at 12:30 p.m. Middle and high schools are dismissing at 1:30 p.m. All after-school and evening activities have been canceled. OMU has closed 4th Street from Wing Avenue to West Highland Court. Officials say the break is in their treated water line in front of Plant A. The second plant, or Cavin unit, has taken over water production. Owensboro and Daviess County customers are asked to boil drinking water until further notice and reduce usage. William Higdon with West Daviess County Water says they have not experienced a loss in pressure, but recommend the boil order as a precaution.
