The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to place a new traffic signal in flashing mode along KY 81 at the US 60 Exit 11 Interchange in Owensboro on Monday, April 2. A new traffic signal on KY 81/West Parrish Avenue at the end of the US 60 westbound exit ramp is expected to go into flashing mode on Monday. The new traffic signal will remain in flashing mode for about one week to allow the driving public to become familiar with the location. This traffic signal is at the end of the US 60 Exit 11 westbound exit ramp to KY 81 at KY 81 milepoint 11.963 on the southwest side of Owensboro.
Weather permitting, sometime on April 6th the new signal is expected to be activated into full green-yellow-red operation. Motorists should be aware of the pending activation of this new traffic signal and be alert for changes in traffic flow it may create at this interchange. The signal is being installed due to increased traffic at this ramp and wait times for westbound traffic from US 60 to access KY 81.
A traffic signal is already in service on KY 81 at the US 60 Exit 11 easbound exit ramp. Approximately 14,000 vehicles travel KY 81/West Parrish Avenue through the US 60 Exit 11 Owensboro Interchange in an average day.
