A Kentucky judge is considered a candidate to fill the seat of retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. Amul Thapar is a judge in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. The former Eastern District Kentucky judge was appointed by then President George W. Bush. Thapar was considered for the Supreme Court two years ago following the death of Antonin Scalia. Thapar grew up in Northwest Ohio after moving to the Toledo area from Michigan at age six.
