From the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency Facebook page:
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), we can expect 2-3” of rain now through Saturday, steady rain chances throughout, but with the heaviest amounts this evening and another round on Friday. The good thing is the rivers and creeks are in pretty good shape to handle that amount, but we could see isolated locations of minor flooding if we receive large amounts during a short period. Remember during heavy periods, ditches/culverts/storm drains can only handle so much, so be extremely cautious to avoid flooded roadways. They can overflow one minute, returning to near normal height another. Also be cautious of popped manhole covers during heavy downpours. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN!!!
Risk Category: MARGINAL- An area of severe storms of either limited organization and longevity, or very low coverage and marginal intensity. Isolated severe thunderstorms possible, limited in duration and/or coverage and/or intensity.
Hazards: Primarily heavy rain, possibly damaging winds, and lightning. Low probability of tornado and/or hail. Remember…WHEN THUNDER ROARS…GO INDOORS!!!
Showers and thunderstorms will increase their coverage today and tomorrow. This will include a marginal risk of severe storms and a marginal risk of locally heavy rainfall causing flooding. If a strong or severe storm occurs, damaging wind is the main hazard. Otherwise heavy rain is the primary anticipated storm hazard. Lightning is also a storm hazard.
